Pear Crisp

I have to admit this is one of those recipes that happened because I had some produce to use up, but I’m glad it did because it turned out super yummy.  Pears are a little sweeter than apples so they don’t need a lot of extra added sugar to make for an excellent dessert.

Recipe adapted from the Neely’s Apple Crisp

Pear Crisp

Serves 2
Prep time 10 minutes
Cook time 35 minutes
Total time 45 minutes

Ingredients

filling

  • 1 pear (chopped into 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

topping

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons chilled butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°f
2. Mix filling ingredients and put in two 8 7-10 oz ramekins.
3. Cut up the butter, sugar, flour and cinnamon for the topping with a pastry blender or two butter knives until blended into pea size lumps. Divide between ramekins then top with pecans.
4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
