This isn’t a recipe where you want to leave the chicken to marinade overnight.¬† The acidic balsamic vinegar will toughen the chicken if it’s left to marinade too long. 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time to lock in flavor and keep the meat tender; try not to go much beyond that.

Serves 2
Prep time 35 minutes
Cook time 15 minutes
Total time 50 minutes

  • 1 - 1.5lb chicken tenders
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • salt & pepper to taste

1. Mix the marinade ingredients. Add the chicken to a zip bag, the pour in marinade. Seal the bag and squish it up so the chicken is coated. Marinade for 30 minutes.
2. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil, allow a minute for it to heat up then carefully add the marinaded chicken. Brown chicken on both sides for 2-3 minutes then move it to a clean plate.
3. Turn down heat to medium-low and immediately add butter and balsamic vinegar to hot pan carefully (it will spatter) and use a hard spatula to deglaze the pan, scrapping up any chicken fond. Add the honey and stir the contents of the pan. Simmer 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
4. Turn off heat and add chicken back to pan, stirring to coat the chicken in the sauce.
