Chocolate Strawberry Dessert Oatmeal

Chocolate Strawberry Dessert Oatmeal

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love oatmeal.  I eat it for breakfast, I bake with it, and now I eat it for dessert too.  Oatmeal is a great canvas that can become a lot of things with the right balance of sugar and spice.  Not only that but unlike most dessert foods, it provides some substance too: protein, fiber, and iron, good stuff.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good donut or piece of pie, but why not change it up once in a while.

Another bonus to the oatmeal dessert option: Even If you’re really careful and methodical, this recipe takes only 4 minutes to make.

You can add the chocolate and strawberries before or after microwaving the oat mixture based on your preference.  I added mine before cooking so that the chocolate is nice and melty and the strawberries seem less bright (sour) to me when they’ve been warmed up a bit. That could totally be in my head though.
